Labor & Employment
- GCAP supports the requirement of Prevailing Wages Act for public construction. GCAP monitors actions to determine the impact that increasing the Prevailing Wages Act threshold and expanding the Prevailing Wages Act will have on tax-funded projects and the private sector.
- GCAP opposes lowering Construction Apprenticeship ratios.
- GCAP supports legislation that prevents misclassification of workers as “independent contractors” to avoid paying payroll taxes, unemployment compensation premiums, workers compensation, or even good wages and benefits.
- GCAP supports an illegal immigration reform that would create a viable and efficient visa work program that allows for a timely and reasonable flow of immigrant workers to meet future employment needs. Once comprehensive reform is in place, we must establish a system of effective and fair enforcement against employers and immigrants that refuse to comply.
